Does Longmont Have the Best Pizza in Colorado? This Northern Colorado Town Is Making a Serious Case

Forget New York and Chicago for a moment. Longmont, Colorado, is making a serious case for the best pizza in the state, and the evidence is stacking up on one downtown street.

Denver and Boulder usually get the food headlines. But just up the road, Longmont has a nationally ranked slice shop, a New York-style pizzeria the Washington Post singled out and a Detroit-style kitchen that has placed at the International Pizza Expo in Las Vegas.

Those three pizzerias also teamed up to launch the Colorado Pizza Festival, which drew about 7,000 people to downtown Longmont in September 2026. Here's why the best pizza in Longmont is worth the drive.

3 Longmont Pizzerias Putting the Town on the Map

All three sit on Main Street, within about four blocks of each other. Each one owns a different pizza tradition.

1. Rosalee's Pizzeria

If one restaurant started Longmont's pizza reputation, it's Rosalee's. James and Amy Ross opened it on Main Street in 2014, and its ticket line sums up the idea: "East coast pies under Western skies."

In 2025, Italy-based guide 50 Top Pizza ranked Rosalee's No. 14 in the United States for pizza by the slice. It was the only Colorado pizzeria on that list.

The menu runs from thin round pies to thick Sicilian-style squares. James Ross keeps it simple: a crust that's crisp, soft and chewy, with char bubbles, and toppings that don't crowd it.

2. Antonio's Real New York Pizza

Craving a real New York slice without a flight to the East Coast? Antonio's serves wide, foldable slices made the traditional way.

Antonio's started in Estes Park in 2014 and opened its second location in downtown Longmont in summer 2024. The Washington Post named it Colorado's top New York-style pizza in its 2023 state-by-state roundup.

3. Urban Field Pizza & Market

Rosalee's and Antonio's lean East Coast. Urban Field goes Midwest, with Detroit-style square pies, crispy caramelized edges and chef-driven toppings.

Co-founder and culinary director Nick Swanson has taken Urban Field to the International Pizza Expo in Las Vegas. It placed 7th overall in the 2023 International Square Pizza Challenge, then later ranked 5th in the world for Detroit-style and 7th for pan-style.

Urban Field has since grown to Loveland and Windsor, so more of Northern Colorado can try it.

The Colorado Pizza Festival: 7,000 Fans and $60,000 for Hunger Relief

On Saturday, September 5, 2026, downtown Longmont hosted the first Colorado Pizza Festival, and the turnout surprised everyone.

The festival filled a block party at Fourth Avenue and Kimbark Street with more than 20 Colorado pizzerias. Each one served a cheese pie and a specialty pie, with live music alongside.

It was organized by Pizza With Purpose, a nonprofit founded by the teams behind Rosalee's, Antonio's and Urban Field. They started it to fight food insecurity, partly in response to uncertainty around SNAP and other aid programs.

Festival by the numbers
Attendance planned for about 4,000
Tickets sold about 7,000
Pizzerias 20+
Raised for hunger relief $60,000

The money went to Slice Out Hunger, Longmont Food Rescue, Community Food Share and Colorado Friendship.

The crowd nearly doubled the plan, so entrance and food lines wrapped around the block, and organizers acknowledged the wait times afterward. The festival's website signs off with "see you next year," so watch for a bigger, smoother 2027 edition. Details: Colorado Pizza Festival.

What Makes Longmont's Pizza Scene Special?

Plenty of Colorado cities have great pizza. Longmont stands out because three nationally recognized pizzerias, each in a different style, share a few blocks of the same street.

  • Rosalee's: East Coast thin-crust rounds and Sicilian squares
  • Antonio's: classic New York-style slices
  • Urban Field: Detroit-style square pies with inventive toppings

And instead of acting only as rivals, the three owners built Pizza With Purpose together. That mix of recognition and local collaboration is rare, and it's why the scene feels bigger than any one restaurant.

Plan Your Own Longmont Pizza Crawl

You don't need a festival ticket to taste the difference. Here's an easy afternoon or evening route along Main Street, south to north:

  1. Urban Field (150 Main St.): split a Detroit-style square to start.
  2. Antonio's (325 Main St.): grab a plain cheese slice and fold it New York-style.
  3. Rosalee's (461 Main St.): finish with a slice or a Sicilian square.

Share a pie at each stop so you have room for all three. Then vote for your favorite.
